Family history

This story was born in the legendary lands of Bohemia to land
on the soft hills where today the wine of the Recchi Franceschini family is produced.

The power and property of the family originate in the descent of the emperor
Charles IV in 1355. The Italian forefather, De Reck, was installed in the maritime castle of Ripatransone to protect and oversee the Empire and the Pope in the outpost.

By the time the 1500s arrived, Italy had reached a period of equilibrium and with the need for warfare waning, the branch of the family that remained in Italy moved to the current territories of the county of Castignano. From that moment a new era began for Castignano where the influence and tradition of war of the Recchi family were key factors for its relevance on the territory. Following the feuds with Ascoli Piceno, among which Michele Recchi died in 1535, he took full autonomy and imposed his power on the territory, strengthening relations with
Pope Paul III.
This tenacity became part of the chivalrous motto of Castignano:
“Frangar non flectar”, in Italian “that I break without bending”.

For history, these events and these characters have meant, ultimately with the election of a local Franciscan father then known as Pope Sixtus V, ultimately suppressing the spirits of the long Ghibelline revolt born in 1125.

After these services offered alongside the Pope, the family took the first posts of state importance and in Ferrara was appointed part of the order of the Knights of the Golden Spur. From that day on, the Recchi will be present in the politics and administration of the Papal State and in 1848 they will be the direct recipients of the phrase “non semel” of Pope Pius IX.

In the same years, to distinguish itself from the many ramifications of the papal family, the surname Franceschini was added. Since then, the County of Castignano has been transformed into the most dynamic economic center of the province.
Today she faces the challenges of preserving and re-energizing these bits of life.
The Recchi Franceschini family has always been at your service.
